Major Dhyan Chand is an Indian field hockey player considered by many to be the greatest in the sport's history. He is known for his extraordinary scoring feats, in addition to winning three Olympic gold medals, in 1928, 1932 and 1936, at a time when India dominated field hockey. His influence went far beyond these victories, as India won a field hockey event in seven of the eight Olympics between 1928 and 1964. Known as The Wizard. or The Magician of Hockey because of his superb ball control, Chand played internationally from 1926 to 1949; He has scored 570 goals in 185 games according to his autobiography, Goal.
