Ferdinand Ries is a German composer. Ries is a friend, student and secretary of Ludwig van Beethoven. He composed eight symphonies, a violin concerto, eight piano concerts, three operas and many other works, including 26 string quartets. In 1838, he published a collection of memories of his mentor Beethoven, co-writing with Franz Wegeler. Symphonies, a number of chamber works - mostly with piano - violin concerto and his piano concerts were recorded, presenting a style, due to his connection with Beethoven, lying between classic and early romantic styles.
