Leonard William Hambro, known as Lenny Hambro, is an adventurous jazz musician who played woodwinds, mainly alto saxophone, with a wide range of famous groups, orchestras and jazz from the early 1940s to mid 1960s and continued to be a session musician, music producer, booking agent, and entertainment coordinator until the mid-1990s. Early in his professional career, Hambro spelled his name as "Lennie" but changed spelling in 1954, although he was sometimes referred to as "Lennie" in the press in late 1957. Hambro began his career with Gene Krupa in 1942. However, he is best known for his stints as director of New Glenn Miller's Orchestra and Deputy Group Director under the baton of Ray McKinley. He is well known in the Latin Jazz community and has a close relationship with Chico O'Farrill.
