He is mayor of New Rochelle, New York and has served since his appointment in January 2006 to fulfill the unexpired term of Mayor Timothy C. Idoni. Bramson was re-elected in 2011 with 79% of the vote. Before becoming mayor, Bramson served ten years on the New Rochelle City Council as the city's fifth district representative. In 2013, Bramson was nominated by the Westchester County Democratic Party as a candidate to run Westchester County against incumbent Republican Rob Astorino.
