Germán Vargas Lleras is a Colombian politician who recently served as Vice President of Colombia under President Juan Manuel Santos Calderón. A member of the Radical Change Political Party, he served four consecutive terms in the Senate, after being elected in 1994. German Vargas was also Minister of the Interior, then Minister of Housing, Towns and Territory. He was elected vice president of Colombia in 2014, alongside Juan Manuel Santos, who is seeking a second term as president. On March 15, 2017, Vargas Lleras resigned his post of Vice President in order to be eligible to run for the presidential election of 2018
