He played for the Japanese national team from 1990 to 2000 and was the first Japanese to receive the Best Footballer in Asia award. Miura, who is famous in Japan to coincide with the 1993 J.League debut, is believed to be Japan's first soccer superstar. He is also known for his trademark "Kazu Feint" and the famous "Kazu dance", when he scores big goals or makes big plays. Miura holds the record as the oldest professional football player in the world at the age of 50 and as of 2021, as the oldest professional soccer player in the world at the age of 54 decades. His brother Yasutoshi is also a former professional soccer player.
