Steve Pool is a retired chief meteorologist. He began covering sports for KOMO-TV in Seattle in 1977 and eventually became that station's main weather host from 1984 to 2019. Pool started his career at KOMO- TV as a trainee while studying at KOMO-TV at the University of Washington. After graduating in 1978, Pool became a writer, journalist and eventually a meteorologist. In the 1980s, Pool began hosting a show on KOMO-TV called "Front Runners" which aired every Saturday. Pool received eight Emmy Awards during his career and made over 70 appearances on Good Morning America. In addition, he is the author of a book on weather and weather forecasting, titled Somewhere, I Was Right. In 2004, he was inducted into the University of Washington, Department of Communications Fame. Pool announced a broadcast break in November 2019 after being successfully treated for prostate cancer.
