He is a superb all-round player in batman who plays both at mid speed and at spin. Greig was captain of the England team from 1975 to 1977 and captain of Sussex. His younger brother, Ian, also plays Test cricket, while a few other members of his extended family play first class. A leading England County cricketer, Greig is considered by some former players and experts to be one of England's best all-powerful international players. He helped Kerry Packer start World Series Cricket by signing several of his British colleagues as well as West Indian and Pakistani cricketers, which cost him the post of team captain.
