According to critics, he was the last crowned king of Sri Lankan cinema to die after Gamini Fonseka and Joe Abeywickrama. He has appeared in 115 films, 43 of which he is the main actor and 72 of which he plays supporting roles. He also acted as a screenwriter in two films.
