Alex Minsky is a retired Marine sergeant turned model. At the start of his first tour to Afghanistan in 2009, his Humvee was hit by a roadside bomb and his right leg was amputated. He was in a coma for 47 days with head injuries and a total of 17 months in the hospital. After his brother passed away from drug overdose, he started drinking alcoholism that lasted for 23 months, and to get rid of it, he switched to bodybuilding. It was during one of his regular training sessions that he was approached by a fashion photographer named Tom Cullis.
