Colonel Benjamin Alvin Drew is a US Air Force officer and former NASA astronaut. He was in two spaceships; the first was the mission of the space shuttle STS-118 to the International Space Station in August 2007. Drew's second flight took place in March 2011 on STS-133, another mission to the Space Station. STS-133 is the ultimate space shuttle discovery mission. Drew was on two spaceships when he arrived at the station. Drew was the last African American to fly on the Space Shuttle, as the last two Space Shuttle missions, STS-134 and STS-135, have no African American crew members. He is also currently the newest African-American astronaut to fly in space. Drew was selected as an astronaut in NASA's 18th Astronaut Group in July 2000. After his rookie space flight, Drew spent nearly a year at the Yuri Gagarin Astronaut Training Center in Star City, Russia, where he oversaw NASA training activities as an operations supervisor.
