Andrew Stuart "Andy" Fastow was a convicted felon and former financier, was CFO of Enron Corporation, an energy trading company based in Houston, Texas, until he was fired just before the company never declares bankruptcy. Fastow is one of the key figures behind the complex web of special purpose off-balance sheet entities used to hide Enron's large loss on their quarterly balance sheets. By illegally maintaining personal stakes in these seemingly independent ghost entities, he has managed to deceive Enron tens of millions of dollars. The United States Securities and Exchange Commission launched an investigation into his and the company's behavior in 2001. Fastow was sentenced to six years in prison and finally five years for crimes related to these acts.
