Robert Louis "Bobby" DeBarge, Jr. is an American singer and songwriter. DeBarge is the vocalist of the Motown R&B / soul Switch group and is known for his falsetto voice. He then served as both the mentor and co-producer of his sibling's DeBarge group, eventually joining them to replace departed members El and Bunny. Personal problems, including drug addiction that eventually led to drug trafficking allegations in 1988, affected DeBarge later on, distracting his music career. He contracted HIV in the 1980s and died of complications of AIDS in 1995, at the age of 39
