Hunt is the chairman of the Hunt Sports Group, where he oversees the operations of FC Dallas and formerly Columbus Crew of MLS. He is the son of Lamar Hunt and the grandson of oil magnate H.L. Hunt. After his father's death in 2006, Hunt, his mother, and siblings inherited legal ownership of the Chiefs. As CEO of the Group and representative face of the shareholding group, he represents the Director at all owner meetings and manages the day-to-day operations of the group. Under Hunt's leadership, the captain made seven knockout rounds, five AFC West championships, ended an eight-playoff streak without losing and earned a Super Bowl berth.
