Francisco Xavier Alarcón is a Chicano poet and educator. He is one of the few Chicano poets to have "been recognized as writing primarily in Spanish" in the United States. His poems have also been translated into Irish and Swedish. He has made numerous appearances in public schools to be able to help inspire and influence young people to write their own poetry, especially because he believes that children are "natural poets".
