John Candy
John Franklin Candy is a Canadian actor and comedian primarily known through Hollywood films. Candy is best known as a member of the Toronto branch of Second City and her second TV series City, and through her comedy appearances including Stripes, National Lampoon's Vacation, Splash, Cool Runnings, Summer Rental, The Great Outdoors, Spaceballs and Uncle Buck, as well as more dramatic roles in Only the Lonely and JFK. One of his most famous performances is the role of Del Griffith, the chatty shower curtain clerk in John Hughes' comedy Planes, Trains and Automobiles. Besides being an actor, Candy was also part owner of the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football Federation from 1991 until her death, and the team won the 1991 Gray Cup in her possession. Candy died of a heart attack in 1994 at the age of 43. His last two films, Wagons East and Canadian Bacon, are dedicated to him.
