After the success of this novel, he left MI6 to become a full-time author. His books include The Battle for Glasses, Tinker Tailor Soldier, Smileyy's Man, Little Drummer Girl, Night Manager, Panama Tailor, Continuous Gardener, Man Most Wanted and Our Betrayal Type, all of which have been adapted for cinema or television.
