John Venn
John Venn, FRS, FSA is an English mathematician, logicologist and philosopher known for his introduction to the Venn diagram, used in the fields of set theory, probability, logic, statistics, competitive mathematics, and computer science. In 1866, Venn published The Logic of Chance, a groundbreaking book advocating the theory of frequency of probability, proposing that probability be determined by how often something should happen, as opposed to "learned" assumptions. Venn then developed George Boole's theories in Symbolic Logic in 1881, where he highlighted what would be called a Venn diagram.
