Khalil Alwazir
Khalil Ibrahim al-Wazir is the Palestinian leader and co-founder of the nationalist party Fatah. As the senior assistant to the President of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Yasser Arafat, al-Wazir had significant influence on Fatah's military operations, eventually becoming the commander of the al-Assifa armed wing of Fatah. Al-Wazir became a refugee when his family was expelled from Ramla during the 1948 Arab-Israeli War and began leading a small helmet force in the Gaza Strip. In the early 1960s, he established Fatah with communist regimes and prominent third-world leaders. He opened the first Fatah office in Algeria. It played a key role in the 1970-1971 Black September clashes in Jordan, providing weapons and aid to besieged Palestinian militants. After the Jordanian army defeated the PLO, al-Wazir joined the PLO in Lebanon. Before and during Israel's 1982 invasion of Lebanon, al-Wazir planned several attacks inside Israel against civilian and military targets.
