Kim Ki-duk is a Korean director and screenwriter, known for his own elegant cinematic works. His films have received many differences in the festival circuit, making him one of the most important contemporary Asian directors. His main festival awards include the Golden Lion at the 69th Venice International Film Festival for Pietà, the Silver Lion for Best Director at the 61st Venice International Film Festival for 3-Iron, a Silver Bear for Best director at the 54th Berlin International Film Festival for the Samaritan Girl, and the first prize was awarded at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival for Arirang. Her best-known traits are spring, summer, fall, winter ... and spring, which were included in movie critic Roger Ebert's Great Movies. Two of his films were officially nominated for an Oscar for Best International Feature Film as Korean works. He gave the script to some of his former assistant directors, including Juhn Jai-hong and Jang Hoon.
