Marcel was born in Križevci as a descendant of the noble Kiepach family, arrived in Križevci at the beginning of the 19th century and became influential in the city. He studied economics in Berlin and electrical engineering in Charlottenburg. In Berlin on March 16, 1910, as a sixteen-year-old boy, Marcel was granted a patent for a marine compass indicating the north regardless of the presence of iron or magnetic force. He patented an improved version in London on 20 December 1911. This second was a marine remote compass device, made up of ampsets as a lying indicator. in different parts of the ship, withstanding the magnetic force or the mass of the magnetic field surrounding them. In France, he patented a vehicle lighting generator.
