Characterized by a soprano and at times a southern voice, Love has been one of the band's main vocalists and lyricists throughout their careers, contributing to each of their studio albums and playing the lead role for live performances. He is the cousin of band members Brian, Carl and Dennis Wilson, and often considered the villain in band history, a reputation he admits: "For those who believe Brian walks on water, I'll be still the Antichrist. “Love was one of Wilson's top Beach Boys associates in the 1960s.
