Paul Edward Peek, Jr. is a pioneer in the field of original rockabilly. Peek was born in High Point, North Carolina and raised in Greenville, South Carolina. Paul learned to play guitar, steel guitar and bass at the age of 12. When he was 14 he played in some local country groups. He graduated from Greenville High School in 1955 and played steel guitar with Claude Casey and Sagedusters on WFBC-TV in 1955 in a weekly TV show. In 1956, Paul was recruited as the original member of Gene Vincent & The Blue Caps, sometimes stealing the show. As a member of Blue Caps, Peek was one of the first rock artists to appear in films, appearing in The Girl Can on Help It. Peek is known to be the first artist to record for the National Recording Corporation outside of Atlanta. In 1958, NRC 001 was recorded on Radio WGST. In 1958, Paul recorded a new song, "Olds-Mo-William", and performed the song on the national television show "Beech Nut" on Dick Clark's Saturday Night.
