Ronald Koeman is a former Dutch professional football player and coach who is currently the head coach of Barcelona club in La Liga. He is the brother of former international teammate Erwin Koeman and the son of former Dutch international Martin Koeman. Koeman has the ability to play both defender and midfield; he often plays as a sweeper, although he is also famous for his scoring ability, long throws, and accuracy in free kicks and penalties. Born in Zaandam, Koeman began his career in Groningen before joining Dutch most successful club Ajax in 1983, where he won the Eredivisie national title in 1984–85. He then joined Ajax rival PSV Eindhoven in 1986, winning three consecutive Eredivisie championships and the C1 Cup in 1988. Ronald Koeman was one of five European players to win the treble with the club and the national cup that year.
