Shin Lim

Liang-Shun Lim, known professionally as Shin Lim, is a Canadian-American magician, recognized for his use of card manipulation and sleight of hand. He is known for elaborate close-up card magic routines, during which he remains silent with the tricks set to music. He is self-taught, having learned most of his skills from watching YouTube. Since then, he has shared some of his techniques on YouTube. Originally educated to be a pianist, he took up magic as his career after being diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome. Lim was discovered around 2012 and began to tour internationally, and subsequently won the 2015 Fédération Internationale des Sociétés Magiques in Close-up Card Magic. His appearances on Penn & Teller: Fool Us and his wins on America's Got Talent during its 13th season and on America's Got Talent: The Champions led to more international fame.

2015 World FISM Champion for Close Up Card Magic who is a self-proclaimed "sleight of hand artist." His magic combines dexterity, precision and grace. He became the winner of the 13th season of America's Got Talent in 2018, followed by the inaugural winner of America's Got Talent: The Champions in 2019.

Before Fame

His career as a "sleight of hand artist" got off to a rough start as he suffered from carpal tunnel syndrome and a career-ending injury to his thumb tendons.


His magic videos have earned him more than 750,000 subscribers on YouTube. He was the IBM People's Choice Award winner for Best Close-Up Magician three years in a row (2013-2015).

Family Life

His brother is the one who peaked his interest in magic. He was born in Canada and raised in Singapore. He became engaged to dancer Casey Thomas in August 2017. They tied the knot on August 19, 2019.


He went viral on YouTube in an episode of the show Penn & Teller Fool Us.
