With considerable popularity both at home and abroad, Tsukamoto is known for his body-to-body horror / cyberpunk film Tetsuo: The Iron Man, which is widely regarded as the film that defines Japan's cyberpunk movement, as well as works. His companion Tetsuo II: Body Hammer and Tetsuo: The Bullet Man. His other films include Tokyo Fist, Bullet Ballet, A Snake of June, Vital, Kotoko and Killing. In addition to starring in most of his films, Tsukamoto has also appeared as an actor in other directors' films, including Martin Scorsese, Takashi Miike and Hideaki Anno. He is considered to have influenced famous Western filmmakers such as Quentin Tarantino, David Fincher, Darren Aronofsky and The Wachowskis.
