Steven Norman Carlton is an American former professional baseball player. He played in the Major League Baseball as a left-handed pitcher for six different teams between 1965 and 1988, most notably as a member of the Philadelphia Phillies, whom he won. four Cy Young prizes as well as the 1980 World Series. Baseball Hall of Fame, 1994. Nicknamed “Lefty,” Carlton has the second most successful strokes in the life of any left pitcher and the second most successful in the life of any left pitcher. He was the first pitcher to win four Cy Young Awards in his career. He held a lifetime record for excellence several times between 1982 and 1984, before his contemporary Nolan Ryan surpassed him. One of his most notable records is winning almost half of the team's victories, as he won 27 games for the 1972 Phillies in last place.
