Philip Henry Niekro, nicknamed "Knucksie", is an American baseball player who played 24 seasons in the Major League, including 20 with the Milwaukee / Atlanta Braves. Niekro's 318 career wins are the most scored by a knuckleball pitcher and is 16th on the MLB all-time winners list. He has won the National Confederation Golden Gloves five times, was selected for five all-star teams and led the tournament winning twice and winning the average once. He was a major contributor to the Braves who won only two championships before 1991. Niekro was inducted into Baseball Fame Hall in 1997. Niekro and his brother Joe had 539 wins between them, the most of their wins in baseball history. Phil's 121 career wins after 40 years is a huge tournament record. Its longevity is attributed to its finger ball, a throw that is difficult to master but easy on the arm and often difficult for players due to its unpredictable trajectory.
