Teodoro Petkoff
Teodoro Petkoff Malec is a Venezuelan politician, guerrilla, economist and journalist. One of Venezuela's most prominent left-wing politicians, Petkoff started out as a communist but founded the Movement for Socialism after the Warsaw Pact invaded Czechoslovakia in 1968. Petkoff was elected senator and ran twice for president in the 1980s, twice defeated. As Minister of Planning, he oversees President Rafael Caldera's adoption of the economic liberalization policy in the mid-1990s. He is a prominent critic of President Hugo Chávez and a candidate for elected against him in the 2006 presidential election until he dropped out four months before a vote in favor of Manuel Rosales. Petkoff founded Tal Cual in 2000 and remained editor until his death in 2018
