Robert Joseph Long, also known as Bobby Joe Long, is an American serial killer and rapist who was executed for the murder of Michelle Denise Simms. Long kidnapped, sexually assaulted and murdered at least 10 women in Florida's Tampa Bay area over a period of eight months in 1984. He freed one of his last victims, Lisa McVey. 17 years old, after raping her around the age of 26. hours. McVey provided the police with information so they could locate him. Long was sentenced to death for two out of ten homicides. He was executed by lethal injection on May 23, 2019 .
