Chedwyn Michael Evans is a Welsh footballer who plays as a striker for the Preston North End Championship club. Born in Rhyl, Evans was signed by Manchester City from the Chester City Youth Foundation in 2002 and has since been promoted. Evans was loaned to Norwich City in 2007, where he scored 10 goals in 28 league appearances, before returning to his parent club. With limited first-team opportunities at Man City, he was then sold to Sheffield United for £ 3 million in 2009. After two unsuccessful first two seasons at Bramall Lane, he netted 35. goals in the 2011–12 season. He has also represented Wales on the Under-21s and at the senior level, scoring in his 2008 national debut and making 13 appearances in total. Evans was convicted of rape in April 2012 and was sentenced to two and a half years in prison. His conviction was overturned on April 21, 2016 by the Court of Appeal and a new trial was requested. On October 14, 2016, he was found guilty.
