Ewell Doak Walker II is an American football player. He played college football as a full-back at Southern Methodist University, where he won the Heisman Trophy in 1948. Walker then played professionally in the National Football Federation with the Detroit Lions for six seasons, from 1950 to 1955. Walker was inducted into the 1959 College Football Fame Hall and Football Fame Hall. Professional in 1986. The Doak Walker Award, awarded annually from 1990 until the run-back in college football, bears his name.

In the 1940s, he was a star college football halfback, kicker, and punter at Southern Methodist University, and from 1950 through 1955, he was a five-time Pro Bowl selection for the NFL's Detroit Lions. In his honor, the NCAA award for best RB was created. In 1986, he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame after his #37 jersey was retired by the Lions.
