Pruett had great success as a musical artist, but is best known for her "Satin Sheets" in 1973. The song topped the country charts and earned her a spot. Join Grand Ole Opry. Pruett grew up near the town of Pell, Alabama, and grew up in a large family. She has performed with her family since childhood and learned some musical instruments. She married guitarist Jack Pruett before she was 20. Soon after, the couple moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where they were hired to play guitar for country artist Marty Robbins. In the early 1960s, Pruett spent more time writing his own songs. Robbins listened to his documentary, which recorded his initial work. His composition work earned him his first recording contract with RCA Victor in 1963 .
