Jerry Ray Lucas is a former American basketball player. He was a nationally recognized high school player, a national college star in the State of Ohio, and a 1960 Olympic gold medalist and international player before playing as an Professional player in the National Basketball Association. As a college student, Lucas led Ohio State Buckeyes to three consecutive NCAA Finals, winning the National Championship in 1960 and finishing second in 1961 and 1962. He was the only Big Ten basketball player. best in the world three times, and named NCAA's 1961 and 1962 Player of the Year by the American Basketball Writers' Association, Associated Press and Sporting News.
