Sidney Clare is an American comedian, dancer and songwriter. His most popular songs include "On the Good Ship Lollipop", "You're My Thrill" and "Please Don't Talk About Me When I'm Gone". In 1929, Clare wrote her first full track for Street Girl. He has scored films for Tanned Legs, Transatlantic Merry-Go-Round, Sing and Be Happy, Hit the Deck, Jimmy and Sally, Bright Eyes, The Littlest Rebel and Rascals. The Oxford English Dictionary records Clare with the first use of the term "rock and roll" in 1934 on the soundtrack of the Transatlantic Merry-Go-Round. In the early 1940s, Clare and some of her colleagues formed a sensational review called Songwriters on Parade, which performed across the East Sea on the Loew and Keith circuits. He was inducted into the Writers Hall of Fame in 1970
