Elliott Roosevelt is an American aviation official and war officer in the United States Air Force, obtaining the rank of lieutenant general. He is the son of President Franklin D. Roosevelt and First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt. As a reconnaissance commander, Roosevelt pioneered new techniques in night photography and weather data collection, but his claims of outstanding performance in combat missions have been played down. After the war ended, he faced a US Congressional investigation into corruption charges, including allegations he offered to purchase a tested Hughes XF-11 reconnaissance aircraft before the Lockheed was considered superior. In the end, he found himself amazed. Roosevelt published a book on his participation in some of the major Allied war conferences and controversial disclosures about his parents' private lives. He also wrote 22 detective novels.
