She is best known for her role as Theresa Russo on the Disney Channel family sitcom Wizards of Waverly Place. She also played Connie Torres in Camp Rock and Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, and played the role of Lala Pinedo in Larry Crowne. From 2014 to 2015, Canals-Barrera played Daniela in the ABC comedy series Cristela. She is known for her role as the voice of Shayera Hol / Hawkgirl in Justice League and Justice League Unlimited. She also voiced Sunset Boulevardez on Disney Channel's The Proud Family and Paulina on Nickelodeon's Danny Phantom.
