Joseph Curtis Hennig is an American professional wrestler. He is best known during his time in WWE, where he performed under the stage name Curtis Axel. Hennig signed for WWE in 2007 and wrestled in their developed territory in Florida Championship Wrestling, as well as FCW Florida heavyweight champion and four-time FCW Florida Tag Team champion. In 2010, after performing on NXT under the stage name Michael McGillicutty, he made his WWE Main List debut as part of The Nexus. He went on to win the WWE Tag Team Championship with David Otunga once. In 2013, he resumed his career under the stage name Curtis Axel, paying homage to his father Curt Hennig and grandfather Larry "The Ax" Hennig and once winning the WWE Intercontinental Championship. He went on to win the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship with Bo Dallas as part of the B-Team. His term with the company ends in April 2020.
