David Akers
David Roy Akers is a former American footballer who has played at the National Football Federation for 16 seasons, mainly with the Philadelphia Eagles. He started his career in 1998 with the Washington Redskins after failing to make the main list of the Atlanta Falcons and the Carolina Panthers. The following year, he signed for Eagles, where he spent 12 seasons. Akers was also a member of the San Francisco 49ers and the Detroit Lions before retiring in 2013. During his career, Akers has been named to six Pro Bowls and twice received the All-Pro First Team title. He also set the NFL record for the longest on-field goal then when converted to a 63-yard long, the second longest in league history. Akers was inducted into the Hall of Fame and was a member of the 75th Anniversary Team, in addition to being named in the second squad of the National Football Confederation in the 2000s
