Earl Harry "Dutch" Clark, sometimes referred to as "The Flying Dutchman" and "The Grand Master", is an American football player and trainer, basketball player and trainer, and at the same time athletic director of the university. He gained his greatest fame as a soccer player and was inducted into the College Football Fame Hall with its opening class in 1951 and the Professional Football Fame Hall with an open class in 1963. He was also enrolled in 1969 in the 1930s NFL All-Decade Team. and was the first player to retire from the Detroit Lions. Born in Colorado, Clark attended Colorado College, where he played football, basketball and baseball, and also competed in track and field. During the 1928 football season, he approached 1,349 yards, scored 103 points, and became the first Colorado player to receive the American First Team title. After graduating in 1930, he continued his education at the University of Colorado as a basketball head coach and an assistant football coach.
