K. Pattabhi Jois is an Indian yoga teacher and Sanskrit scholar who developed and popularized the vinyasa style of yoga called Ashtanga Yoga. In 1948, Jois founded the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute in Mysore, India. Pattabhi Jois was one of the Indians who had the tools to establish modern yoga as an exercise in the 20th century, along with B. K. S. Iyengar, another disciple of Krishnamacharya in Mysore. Jois sexually abused some of his yoga practitioners by touching the inadequacy during the adjustment process. Sharath Jois has publicly apologized for her grandfather's “incorrect adjustments”.
