Jeremy John Durham Ashdown, Baron Ashdown of Norton-sub-Hamdon, known as Paddy Ashdown, is a British politician and diplomat who served as leader of the Liberal Democratic Party from 1988 to 1999. He gained international recognition as Senior Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina from 2002 to 2006, after lobbying vigorously for military action against Yugoslavia in the 1990s. While serving as an officer in the Royal Navy and Special Boat Service and an intelligence officer in the British security service, Ashdown was elected as a Member of Parliament for Yeovil in 1983 before retired in 2001. Ashdown received national recognition for his service when he was named the Grand Cross Knight of the Order of St Michael and St George in 2006 as the title and member of the Medal of Companion. Honor in honor of New Year 2015. In 2017 Ashdown was appointed Officer of the Honorary Corps by French government.
