Since 2012, he has been one of the keyboard players, along with Jesse Carmichael, for the pop rock band Maroon 5. Morton initially joined the group as a touring member in 2010 and became a main member. wake up in 2012 after Carmichael took an indefinite leave. Morton released his first solo EP, Follow My First Mind, in March 2012, through his label Young Money. Adam Levine and James Valentine are featured in the lead single, "Heavy". In May 2013, Morton released his first major studio album, New Orleans. In 2016, he released the mixtape Bounce & Soul Vol. March 1 and EP Stick to my gun in July. On April 14, 2017, Morton released his self-released debut studio album Gumbo, which earned him two Grammy nominations for Best R&B Album and Best R&B Song at the 60th annual Grammy Awards
