Dr. Vina Mazumdar is an Indian scholar, leftist and feminist. A pioneer of women's studies in India, she is a leading figure in the Indian women's movement. She was one of the first female academics to combine activism and academic research in women's studies. She is the secretary of the First Committee on the Status of Women in India, which released its first report on the status of women in the country, Towards Equality. She is the founding director of the Center for Women's Development Research, an autonomous organization founded in 1980, which is part of the Indian Council for Social Science Research. She is Professor of National Studies at the Center for Women Development Research, Delhi.
