Harold Allen Ramis is an American actor, comedian, director and writer. His most famous film roles were Egon Spengler in Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II, and Russell Ziskey in Stripes; he also co-wrote these films. As a director, his films include the comedy Caddyshack, National Lampoon's Vacation, Groundhog Day, and Analyze This. Ramis was the original screenwriter for the SCTV drama which he also directed and co-wrote on National Lampoon Groundhog Day and Animal House. The last movie he wrote, produced, directed and performed is Year One. Ramis' films influenced later generations of comedians, writers and actors. Filmmakers and actors such as Jay Roach, Jake Kasdan, Adam Sandler, Peter and Bobby Farrelly have considered his film their favorite. Together with Danny Rubin, he won the BAFTA Award for Best Original Screenplay for Groundhog Day.
