Paul Franklin Watson is a Canadian-US environmental and conservation activist who founded the Sea Shepherd Conservation Association, a group that acts directly against poaching and focuses on marine conservation. The tactics employed by the Sea Shepherd have attracted opposition, with a group accused by the Japanese government and the Green Peace organization against ecological terrorism. Watson is a citizen of Canada and the United States. The Toronto native joined the Sierra Club protesting the nuclear test in 1969. He was a co-founder of Greenpeace, responsible for its crew and captain and a founding member of the five-year board of directors. 1972. He was awarded The New York Times, The New Yorker, and other publications as one of the founders of the Green Peace organization. The documentary How to Change the World shows that Watson was indeed one of the original founding members of Greenpeace.
