Calvin Jack Jones was a college football player at the University of Iowa. Jones is one of only two football players from Iowa to retire from school. Jones became the first Hawkeye and the first African American to win the Outland Trophy in 1955. He played for a year with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Western Intercity Football Federation. He died in a plane crash after playing the East West All-Star Game. Cal Jones is a member of the Pigskin Club Of Washington, D.C. National Honorary Player in Varsity American Football.
