David Poile is president of hockey operations and general manager of the NHL's Nashville Predators. He is the son of former hockey player, coach and NHL executive Bud Poile. Poile, a successful hockey player at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, still holds the record for most career hat tricks at 11. During his stay in the northeast of Poile, he was a member of the Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity. Poile began his NHL career as an administrative assistant, then enlarged the Atlanta Flames in 1972. Five years after joining the Flames organization, he was named assistant general manager. Poile left Flames to become vice president and general manager of the Washington Capitals. He served as such for fifteen years. While in Washington he was very successful and the capital set a record of 594-454-124 under his control. After working in Washington, Poile took this position with the expanding Nashville Predators later in 1997
