Douglas Carl Engelbart is an American engineer and inventor and one of the early internet and computer pioneers. He is known for his seminal work on human-machine interactions, particularly during his work within his intensive research center laboratory at SRI International, which created computer mice and the development of hypertext, l network computing and the forerunner of graphical user interfaces. These were proven at The Mother of All Demos in 1968. Engelbart's law, which observed that the intrinsic human speed of execution is exponential, is named after him. The NLS, the “oN-Line system”, developed by the Center for Intensive Research under the leadership of Engelbart with major funding from ARPA, demonstrated a wide variety of technologies, most of which are currently in use. widely used; it understands computer mice, bitmap screens, hypertext; all on display at "The Mother of All Demos" in 1968 .
