Irvin Shrewsbury Cobb is an American author, comedian, publisher, and columnist from Paducah, Kentucky, who moved to New York City in 1904 and lived there his entire life. He wrote for the New York World, the Joseph Pulitzer newspaper, as the highest paid journalist in the United States. Cobb has also written over 60 books and 300 short stories. Some of his works have been adapted into silent films. Some of his Judge Priest short stories were adapted in the 1930s for two feature films directed by John Ford.
